Mural

At Ease Brewing Co.

To celebrate their 1-year anniversary, At Ease Brewing Co. commissioned us to create a mural for the blank wall on the side of their flagship brewery and tap room in Midtown Sacramento.

We first created the design in Adobe Illustrator and then scaled it to a 2’ x 2’ grid. After applying a chalkline grid on the wall, we roughly sketched the basic shapes, making various adjustments, additions, and subtractions as we went. Then came the primer and several coats of paint along with the fine detail work of getting crisp lines, flowing curves, and sharp edges.

Our goal was to create something bold, simple, and playful with a lot of movement that would create an Instagram hotspot, and provide a moment of joy for passersby. We decided that a vintage space design accomplished all of those things while also giving a sense of hopeful optimism for the future, particularly in the throes of the 2020 pandemic.

In addition, we gave a much needed update to the neglected planting area near the front of the property by removing the dirt, painting the curbs black, adjusting the shape into a simple rectangle, and adding white gravel for a clean pop of color and complement to the mural. Custom fabricated barrel planters will be added to this area and The At Ease Brewing logo will be painted vertically in the green area adjacent to the mural.

Commuter Industries created all of the brewery branding, and provides ongoing creative direction for products, interior design, events, social media, promotional materials and more.
